| Coltelement Moderator Posts: 24 | Alright, it's just a simple squad strategy we semi-tested with a full DOA squad tonight. It's really simple.
The whole squad heads to an set-objective, but we have no lolly-gaggers or "snipers". Everyone (all DOA) stick together, supporting each other, and stay "tight" and mobile. It's a very, very, basic strategy, easy to follow, and applicable in numerous situations.
I know some of you might say "Colt, we already do this...", which is partially true, and we are normally good at it. This however, requires everyone to stay light, and put constant fire down range, like a "blitzkreig".
Testing revealed that the strategy is good against light/medium resistance in light/medium cover, and especially while going to objectives. This strategy is bad against heavy pockets of enemies, bunkers, heavy cover, and grenades (obviously).
By having the squad constantly moving (think of several bees buzzing around one flower), you keep the enemy disoriented and almost outgunned, providing several targets for the squad.
Just some food for thought. | -- “Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.”

| Agent2200 Member Posts: 2 | Two problems with your ideal,
A) Leadership, whilst we have quite a bit of it, I don't think I can imagine anyone really roping down the spear heads of the group enough to form more then a 3 man squad. One of our flaws in DOA is that were awesome, but mostly its just bunch of us gunning/looking for half their platoon to murder. And its most obvious on Copper Hills (Valor sabo) when our initial strike fails and everything after that is really just half a dozen guys filing up big stairs getting gunned down one after the other. The following squads dowing the same thing as time grinds down instead of simply waiting for at least 3/4 of the squad to reset and regroup.
B) Form, formation is key to survival. Anything from a line to a wedge works, but breaking away from the group to chase an enemy or seek one's own path can compromise the lot.
A lot of tactics I use in Paintball are military based, center peels, cutting the pie, leap frogging... ect. And they've worked there and in game, but I think it'd be difficult to actually accomplish those in game. People are coming and going, and time limits in game would restrict us really to just being a squad thats following the leader. but that's worked for us so far so I can't complain.

I think the way we need to (and have been) create/creating new strategies is that they need to be loose (unlike like this one) and open, allowing room for improvisation and crafting.
An example would be that of "Pipe dreams"; a basic direction that is not too physically confining, and allows room for strategic improvisation, easy enough for everyone to follow, and allows the "squad-killers/Monsters" to be trigger-happy, while still working their way to the goal. The only real improvement to such strategy would be that people would have certain jobs issued, such as suppressing fire at the bridge, or CQC at the objective. The downside to that would be that people may not like their jobs, or may be ineffective at them. (So I really like it how it is. ). | -- “Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.”

I see this lots when we do pipe dreams if it works it works well but if we dont get B in the first run it ends up just being a normal round... i would like to see things like if we die or somthing we make sure that we have i want to say 4 guys with us but i guess 3 will have to do and we keep trying. we also need to tell guys to hold up like if i am running for the pipe and there is dead, smelly, and sly behind me just let me know to wate up it is better for me to wate and have them with me then for me to go in all by my self... there is much more that i think of but way to much for me to type LOL
